Rachel Stone • Art


A deep love of the natural world inspires my work – plants, cloudscapes and especially animals. Working across a range of mediums including painting, stream-of-consciousness drawings, paper collage and found-object sculpture, my practice may be seen as a kind of prayer for the continuing survival of the many and diverse species which make up our precious, wild ecosystems.

Inspiration is found in fine art, theatre, dance, children’s book illustration, textile patterns, pressed tin ceilings, typography through the ages, vintage paper ephemera, the poetry of Hafiz and Neruda, and early blues, jazz and folk music.

As well as exhibiting my fine art, I’ve also been commissioned to create illustration and graphic design for a variety of projects, some of which can be seen here:
